“Scouts Rally SA held the deciding round of the East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship (ARC) and the South Australian Rally Championship (SARC) on the 23rd, 24th, 25th of October in the Mount Crawford Forest and Gawler Showgrounds. The action started at 8am on Friday 23rd with the ArmorAll and STP power stage for the ARC cars in the Mt Crawford forest.
After 2 runs through the forest Eli Evans / Glen Weston in their Citroen nished 1st with Tony Sullens / Julia Barkley 2nd (Citroen) and Molly Taylor / Bill Hayes 3rd (Renault).
Marcus and Scott Walkem in their Mitsubishi Lancer nished 1st in the 4wd class, 2nd went to Harry Bates / John Mccarthy (Toyota Corolla) and 3rd Mark Pedder/Dale Moscatt in their Peugeot 208.
Heat 1 of the ARC was run Friday afternoon with 4 stages, the 4th stage was 21km’s through the forest run in complete darkness making for some spectacular viewing.
The Evans / Weston Citroen was the quickest in heat 1 taking an 18 second lead over the Taylor / Hayes (Renault) and Steven and Brett Mackenzie in the Ford Fiesta 3rd.
The action started off in the forest on Saturday morning for heat 2 of the ARC and heat 1 of the SARC covering 9 stages and around 100km’s for the day , the last 3 stages were held at the Gawler showgrounds around a tight 1.5 km circuit
After heat 2 the Evans / Weston Citroen was still leading the ARC category, The Walkem Mitsubishi lancer leading the 4wd category, Nathan Chivers / Adam Tillet leading the side by sides (SxS).
In heat 1 of the SARC Guy Tyler / Steve Fisher in their Mitsubishi Lancer lead from Gary Brown / Mike Dale (Mitsubishi Galant VR4) and Jamie Pohlner / Ben Judd (Subura Impreza) in 3rd place.”
