WILLUNGA-based rally driver Guy Tyler has won the 2015 South Australian Rally Championship after a win at the final round, Scouts Rally SA in late October.

Along with his co-driver Steve Fisher the pair won every round of the championship to cement their place as the state’s best rally crew.

After winning the ASP Southern Rally, and the Copyworld Walky 100, Mr Tyler and Mr Fisher went in to the last round of the championship with work still ahead of them.

Scouts Rally SA was held on the weekend of October 23 to 25 in the Adelaide Hills.

“Im so overwhelmed to have won such a prestigious title, especially after three years of reliability issues with our old car,” Mr Tyler said.

The event started on the Friday with a few hiccups for Mr Tyler’s team as their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V started having misfiring issues.

The same issues continued throughout the weekend, however Mr Tyler and Mr Fisher overcame the problems and were still able to come away with yet another win to clean sweep the championship.

The state championship crown continues on from Mr Tyler’s recent performances in New South Wales where he competed against the world’s best in the World Rally Championships at Coffs Harbour.

“I think this championship win, together with the pace we have shown in the national field at Coffs Harbour and again at Scouts Rally SA, will really be able to propel us to new heights next year,” Mr Tyler said.

The team, 777 Rallysport, is a small southern Adelaide-based team run by a dedicated group of family and friends.

Mr Tyler said the win was a testament to the team’s hard work and determination, especially considering the team was a lot thinner in money and resources than its rivals.

The team is now approaching sponsors for next year, so if you are interested visit www.guytyler.com.au
